I'm convinced "balance" is a myth created by universities to make us feel inadequate. The real secret? Survive. Do the bare minimum in one area to excel in another, and rotate which area gets neglected so nothing completely implodes. One week, my job gets 100% and my thesis gets 50%. Next week, I flip it.
