Alright y'all, I've been doing my own little investigation into student discounts around Mississippi campuses and I feel like the information is so scattered that nobody ever gets the full picture. So I'm starting this thread to pool what we know because honestly the official university pages are basically useless for this stuff 🕵️

I'm at Southern Miss and what I've figured out so far — Newk's Eatery does a student discount if you show your ID at the Hattiesburg location, though it's not advertised anywhere online. A few local coffee shops near campus have informal deals that are purely word of mouth. And the Forrest General area has a handful of places that cater to the student crowd with pricing that's noticeably lower than their standard menu if you're clearly a student and ask nicely.

For anyone at Ole Miss in Oxford — I've heard the Square has some good deals but I've never confirmed them personally. Would love to hear from people who actually know.
The thing that frustrates me is that Mississippi has a pretty tight student community across campuses but there's no central place where this information lives. Every semester a new wave of freshmen overpays for stuff that returning students know to get cheaper.

What do you all know? Doesn't matter which Mississippi campus you're at — USM, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Jackson State, Delta State — drop what you've found 🍽️💰

Cleveland is small enough that the student-local business relationship is pretty direct — most of the restaurant owners on Cotton Row know the Delta State crowd personally. The discount situation there is less about formal policies and more about being a recognizable face and a loyal customer. Which is actually more valuable long-term than a 10% off sticker, because regulars get treated better in ways that go beyond price...
