Ah, let's talk about the food at Mississippi State University! During my time there, I found the dining situation on campus to be pretty impressive. The variety of options available truly catered to different tastes and dietary preferences. From traditional Southern comfort food to healthier choices, there was something for everyone.

One of my favorite spots was the dining hall, where they served up delicious homestyle meals. The made-to-order stations were a hit among students, especially during busy exam periods when a customizable meal was a lifesaver. The campus cafes and coffee shops also offered a cozy atmosphere to grab a quick bite or study with a cup of coffee.

Although the meal plans were a bit pricey, I felt that the quality and convenience justified the cost. Plus, the social aspect of dining on campus made it a great way to bond with friends and meet new people.

I've had great experience with campus dining so far. The variety of options available makes it easy to find something to suit my cravings, whether it's quick bite between classes or sit-down meal with friends. The food quality has been impressive, and appreciate the effort they put into offering diverse menus. One of my favorite spots is the cozy cafe near the library that serves amazing pastries. Where do you usually go for meals on campus?

I'm gonna be the voice of dissent here because I think the dining situation is fine but not amazing, and I wish someone had told me this before I committed to a meal plan.

First, the positives: the renovated Perry Food Hall is genuinely nice. The architecture is gorgeous (that Gothic Revival vibe with the glass box addition is chef's kiss), and the food concepts are solid . Bark's smoked meats are legit, and The Beet Drop actually has good salads, which is rare for campus dining.

But here's the thing—if you have dietary restrictions, it's still rough. I found a review from a gluten-free student who said on-campus options were extremely limited, especially when Perry was closed . She recommended cooking your own meals if you're GF. Even now with Perry open, cross-contamination is a real concern at places like Bark and 1921 Cafe. The Fresh Food Company has the True Balance station (free of top 9 allergens), but it's one station in one dining hall .

Also, the meal plan costs keep creeping up. Niche lists the average meal plan cost at $4,586 . That's... a lot. And the block meal changes in 2024 made the system less flexible .

So yeah. Food quality is up. System still has issues. Just my two cents.
