I'm trying to decide between a few Mississippi schools and housing is a big factor. I've been reading reviews and the feedback is all over the place.

At Mississippi Valley State, a sophomore wrote that their first year wasn't what they hoped for: "The dorms had issues, maintenance was slow, and things didn't always work properly." Another student said the facilities are run down compared to other places because the school doesn't get much funding . 🫠

But other reviews are more positive. Someone said Valley is a fun school if you have the right group, and people are super friendly . It's easy to make friends if you put yourself out there.

What I'm hearing about different schools:
  • Mississippi State: Bigger campus, more resources, but also more expensive. Dorms vary widely — newer ones are nice, older ones need updates.
  • Ole Miss: Oxford is a great college town. Housing off-campus can be pricey but there are options.
  • Southern Miss: Good balance between cost and quality. Some dorms renovated recently.
  • Delta State: Small, close-knit community. Facilities aren't fancy but people seem happy.
  • Valley: Cheaper but maintenance issues are a real complaint from students .
A junior said their experience overall has been wonderful and they made great connections . So maybe it's about finding your people, not just the building you sleep in.

I'm visiting campuses next month. Any current students want to give me the real tour?
