I got a perfect score on a paper I used assignment help for and now I'm terrified

Okay, so I used an assignment help service for a 10-page sociology paper. I provided my outline, my sources, and my argument. The writer basically just wrote it up in better prose than I could manage. I edited it, submitted it, and got an A+.
The professor wrote a glowing comment about my 'insightful analysis' and 'sophisticated writing.' Now I'm terrified. What if she wants to discuss it with me? What if she asks me to present it to the class? I know I couldn't have written that paper myself.
I'm not that smart or that good a writer. I'm scared I'm going to get exposed. Has anyone else had this experience—where you did too well and now you're worried about being found out?
What do you do?

The fear you're feeling is valid—and it's also a gift. It means you have integrity. Someone who didn't care wouldn't be terrified right now.

Here's the reality: you're experiencing classic imposter syndrome, but with an extra layer because you had help. The truth is, the core intellectual work was yours. The outline, the sources, the argument—that's the hard part of sociology. Writing is just the delivery mechanism.

That said, you're right to be concerned about being put on the spot. If your professor asks questions, focus on YOUR ideas. Talk about why you chose those sources, what your argument was, how you structured the paper. That's all you. The fancy sentences don't matter in conversation.

Moving forward: Use this as motivation. Start working with your writing center now to build your prose skills. By next semester, you won't need outside help. You've got the brain—now build the muscles to match.
