Hey y'all! 👋 I just moved down to Oxford for school and I'm loving the Square and the whole vibe so far. But my bank account is definitely not loving the move. 💸 I'm looking for a part-time job that’s cool with a super erratic class schedule. One day I'm free at 10, the next I'm stuck in labs until 4.

I’ve checked the usual spots like the big retailers, but I was wondering if anyone knows of smaller local spots hiring? Maybe a bookstore, a coffee shop on the Square, or even some administrative gig on campus? I’m good with people and a quick learner. If you know a place that's hiring or have any tips for landing something in this town, I'd love to hear it! Thanks a million! 🤞

Karen, I'm gonna give you advice my mom gave me and it worked: look for jobs nobody wants. Not in a bad way, but like early morning shifts at the gym? Opening shifts at coffee shops? Weekend only gigs? Most students want afternoon-evening slots so those are competitive. But if you're willing to work 6am-10am at the Campus Rec front desk before class? That job is yours. And then you have the rest of the day free .

Also, have you considered nannying or babysitting for faculty? Oxford families LOVE Ole Miss students, especially if you have a flexible schedule. Join the "Oxford MS Nannies and Sitters" Facebook group. You can set your own hours, rates are good ($15-20/hr), and it's way less stressful than food service. Plus sometimes you can do homework while the kids nap. Just a thought!

Also welcome to Oxford! You're gonna love it here. Hotty Toddy!
