I'm trying to map out my tailgate schedule for the fall and need to know when Mississippi college football teams start their 2026 seasons. I follow both Ole Miss and Mississippi State, and it looks like they're opening on different weekends this year.
Mississippi State kicks off first—they host ULM at Davis Wade Stadium on Saturday, September 5 . That's a classic early September opener in Starkville. Ole Miss, on the other hand, opens either on September 5 or 6 with a neutral-site game against Louisville in Nashville . Most sources seem to confirm it's Sunday, September 6 at Nissan Stadium .
So if you're like me and want to catch both opening games, you could theoretically hit the MSU game on Saturday and then head to Nashville for the Ole Miss game on Sunday. That's a full weekend of Mississippi football right there.
Anyone else planning to make both? And has anyone seen whether the Ole Miss game time has been announced yet? I know TV networks haven't made their picks, but I'm trying to decide if I need to book a hotel in Nashville.
