Tougaloo says they have ‘social justice focus.’ Is that real or marketing?

I’m deciding between Tougaloo and a bigger school. Tougaloo is small. Private. Historically Black. Their website screams “activism, change, equity.”

But then I saw their endowment. It’s tiny. How can you fight systemic issues with no money?

My question: do students actually do things there? Or do they just talk about injustice in class and then go home?

I don’t want to study activism. I want to do it.

Has anyone from Tougaloo worked on real campaigns? Protested? Changed local policy? Or is the brochure lying? Be real with me. 🫣
