What are my prospects for being accepted into a U.S. Ph.D. program with a research focus in political economy?

Hello! I'm from India, where I completed my undergraduate studies majoring in Law, along with a minor that included two political science courses. I’ve since earned a Master’s degree in Law, deepening my academic foundation in legal and policy-related studies. Now, I'm aiming to pursue a Ph.D. in Political Economy at a well-regarded university in the United States—ideally one that offers full funding.

However, I need to take the GRE before applying, and I’d like to gauge my chances of admission with my current profile. My academic background is strong, but I don’t yet have any publications. I’d really appreciate any insights or advice on how competitive my application might be and what I can do to strengthen it. Thanks so much for your help!

As school counselor, have seen many students pursue Ph. Programs successfully. When considering prospects for acceptance into Ph. Program in political economy, it's essential to showcase research experience and strong academic background. While competition can be fierce, demonstrating clear research focus and aligning it with faculty interests can boost your chances. Engaging with current literature and seeking opportunities to present your work can also make difference. Have you connected with potential advisors yet?
