Would it be helpful to highlight that my article was published in a special issue of the journal?

I recently co-authored a paper that was accepted for publication in a prestigious international education journal as part of a special issue focused on the evolving landscape of higher education in the post-COVID era. This achievement stands out because we were one of only two groups selected from across the globe—and the sole U.S.-based team—to advance beyond the initial Request for Proposals stage, having submitted only a study abstract. After navigating a rigorous, multi-round review process, the acceptance feels especially rewarding.

Given the journal’s high profile and the special issue’s focus on a topic I believe will remain critically relevant in the coming years, I’m wondering about best practices for highlighting this distinction on my CV. Should I note that the article is part of the special issue, or does adding this detail risk appearing self-promotional? I’ve researched CV conventions and haven’t found clear guidance on whether such contextual information is standard or appropriate. I’d greatly appreciate any insights or advice you could offer about how to balance accuracy with professionalism in this context.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Absolutely, highlighting that your article was published in a special journal issue can add significant credibility and visibility to your work. When I had a paper featured in a similar special edition, it garnered more attention from colleagues and researchers in my field. It's a great way to showcase the importance and impact of your research within a focused context. Have you noticed any differences in the reception or recognition of your work when it's part of a special journal issue?
