Best resume writing service for a career changer?

Hey guys!

So, I’m in a bit of a pickle and could really use your advice. I’m currently a junior at Ole Miss, and I’ve made the somewhat terrifying decision to switch my focus completely. I started in the Liberal Arts, but I’ve fallen in love with marketing analytics. The problem? My resume is currently a beautiful masterpiece of… well, essays about 19th-century literature and my barista job.

I need to find the best resume writing service that understands how to pivot my experience. I’m not looking for someone who just lists my duties at Starbucks; I need a professional who can look at my history and translate it into the language of data and campaign strategy.

Has anyone here used a service that specializes in this? I’m based in Oxford, but I’m assuming this is all done online anyway. I’m hoping to find a writer who can ask the right questions to pull out the "transferable skills" I apparently have. I’m feeling super motivated about this new path, and I want my resume to reflect that energy and tell a story, not just list where I’ve been. I need it to scream "future marketing whiz" not "confused English major."

I’ve looked at a few big national sites, but the reviews are so mixed it makes my head spin. Some sound like they just template-stamp your info. I want something tailored. I even saw a tutor on The Princeton Review site who does "Career Services - Resume and Career Help" with good reviews, which got me thinking about smaller, more personalized services versus the big factory ones . Maybe that’s the way to go?

Any recommendations, warnings, or success stories would be amazing! I really want to nail this. Thanks, y'all! 👍✨

Melissa, as someone who hires marketing analytics interns, I can tell you exactly what we look for: curiosity and storytelling ability. Your liberal arts background is literally perfect for this.

The barista job? That's not about coffee. That's about:
  • Customer behavior patterns
  • Peak hour optimization
  • Upselling effectiveness
  • Inventory management
A good resume writer will translate all of that. The big national sites can be hit or miss. I'd actually recommend looking for boutique services or independent writers who specialize in marketing. Also, the Princeton Review tutor you mentioned? If they have good reviews specifically for career help, that personalized attention might be worth it. You want someone who asks "tell me about a time you..." not just "what was your job title?"
