Writing a full essay in Chinese felt impossible. Characters alone were hard enough—now I needed paragraphs with logical flow? But with practice and the right approach, I've gotten much better. Here's what worked.

Start with an outline – Before writing anything, plan your structure. Introduction (引言), body (正文), conclusion (结论). Use transition words like 首先 (firstly), 因此 (therefore), 总之 (in conclusion) .

Use model essays – Find well-written examples on similar topics. Analyze how they structure arguments, introduce points, and conclude. Don't copy—learn from their patterns .

Build vocabulary by theme – Instead of random words, learn vocabulary related to topics you'll write about. Environmental essay? Learn 环境, 污染, 保护 together.

Write regularly, start small – Begin with short paragraphs about daily life. Gradually increase length and complexity.

Seek feedback – Platforms like LangCorrect connect you with native speakers who correct your writing . The feedback is invaluable.

Common mistakes I made: translating directly from English (word order is different!), forgetting measure words, and using overly complex vocabulary I didn't fully understand.

Writing in Chinese is hard, but so rewarding when you express yourself clearly. Keep going! 加油! 💪

Hi Falma, 加油 indeed! 🙌 This is exactly what I needed to hear. The direct translation trap is so real—my sentences always come out sounding like English with Chinese words slapped in. 😅
