Got my first big History of the South exam this afternoon. Professor is a real character, talks about the Battle of Vicksburg like he was actually there. 😅

I've done my reading, highlighted my textbook till it looks like a rainbow threw up on it, but I still got that jittery feeling in my stomach. It's a beautiful day outside, the dogwoods are blooming, and here I am, stuck inside trying to remember the difference between the Whigs and the Democrats in the 1840s. 🌳

My granddaddy always said, "Worryin' is like a rocking chair. It gives you somethin' to do but it don't get you nowhere." So I'm trying not to stress too hard. I figure I'll just go in there, do my best, and let the chips fall where they may. 🤷‍♂️

Anyone else from Mississippi State or Southern Miss feel this way? Just ready for this semester to be over so we can go catfishing? 🎣 Hope y'all have a blessed day, and if you're taking an exam too, just breathe. It'll all work out in the wash.

Current Ole Miss junior here, also dying in history exams. The difference between Whigs and Democrats? Honestly, just remember: Democrats were the party of states' rights and slavery (unfortunately), Whigs were more about federal power and economic modernization. If you get an essay question, throw in something about the Compromise of 1850 and you'll sound smart. 😎

But more importantly—your granddaddy's rocking chair quote? That's going in my mental quote bank. I stress SO bad over exams and it never helps. Gonna try to channel your energy this afternoon. Hope your exam went well, neighbor!
