How is the financial aid office at Northwest? Reviews are scary 😱

I'm looking at Niche reviews for Northwest Mississippi CC, and the comments about financial aid are worrying me. A senior wrote that the financial aid is "very difficult to work with and is rude." They claimed they applied for scholarships every year but never received any, even when they had top grades .

Another review mentioned that "financial aid processes" are highlighted as areas needing improvement . This is terrifying because I'm relying on aid to afford college. I don't want to be stuck dealing with unhelpful staff. On the other hand, a freshman praised the "advisors" for helping create class schedules . Is financial aid a different department? Is it really that bad, or are these just isolated cases? Has anyone had a good experience with their financial aid office? I need the real tea. ☕

The Niche reviews are scary but also Niche attracts the people who had bad experiences. The thousands of students who had fine experiences don't post.

I'm a current student and my financial aid processed fine. I did FAFSA in October, submitted all docs in November, and my aid was posted before spring semester started. No issues.

The key is: don't wait until August. The office gets slammed in August and January. If you go in June or July, they have time to help. Also, use the online portal for document submission. Walking in with papers in August is how you end up in a two-hour line.
