I need some clarification because the legal jargon on these websites is making my eyes bleed.
I was born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi. Lived here my whole life. But the program I got into for marine biology is actually at a university in Tennessee. I applied to some schools here in MS, but the specialization just isn't the same.
My question is about scholarships like the MTAG or MESG. I know they are for Mississippi residents, but does that mean I have to attend a college in Mississippi? Or can I take the money with me since I'm a resident, just studying out of state?
My guidance counselor kinda shrugged and told me to "read the fine print," which wasn't super helpful. Has anyone here successfully used a Mississippi state scholarship at an out-of-state school? Or am I going to have to kiss that money goodbye and take out more loans? Trying to figure out my FAFSA stuff and I'm getting major FOMO thinking about leaving free money on the table just because I'm crossing state lines. Any insight would be awesome!
