Hey y'all! Hotty Toddy!
I'm a sophomore here at Ole Miss and I need to find a new job for the spring semester. My current gig (serving at a restaurant on the Square) is killing me. The money is decent with tips, but my manager literally does not care about my class schedule. I asked for time off during finals week and she laughed and said "everyone has exams, we still have to serve customers." Like... ma'am, I am the customer??
I need recommendations for places in Oxford that actually get it when it comes to student schedules. Places where they won't schedule me for a Friday night shift when I have a huge exam Monday morning. Places where "I have a final" is a valid reason to not work, not just an excuse.
I'm studying marketing, so if anyone knows of any office/admin jobs or even something in the athletic department, that would be ideal. But honestly, at this point, I'll take anything that doesn't make me choose between my GPA and my rent money.
I've heard the Campus Recreation center is good about working with students. Anyone work there? What about the libraries? Do they hire students just to shelve books? That sounds like heaven compared to dealing with drunk customers at 1 AM.
Also, if there are any remote jobs that Mississippi students can do, drop those recommendations too. I have a laptop and I'm decent at social media. Maybe I can actually use my marketing skills instead of carrying trays of sweet tea??
Anyway, drop your recommendations below! Trying to get this sorted before winter break ends. Thanks y'all!
