Stressed Biology major at Mississippi State University - how to balance coursework and exams?

Right now, I'm waist-deep in MCAT prep, trying to rack up research hours, and desperately attempting to maintain a decent GPA. It feels like I'm juggling flaming torches while riding a unicycle - chaotic, to say the least. I've tried color-coded planners, sticky notes on every available surface, even sacrificing my precious Netflix time (which hurts the most). But still, I feel like I'm drowning in textbooks and flashcards.

What I'm looking for is some real advice from fellow Mississippi students who've been through the same chaos - how do you balance coursework and exams without losing your sanity? Are there any specific study techniques that have worked wonders for y'all? Maybe some hidden gems on campus where one can find peace and quiet to focus?

I know we're all in this together, struggling to make our dreams of becoming future doctors a reality. So let's share the load, lift each other up, and conquer these courses like the badass biology majors we are! Much love and eternal gratitude ✨

You're trying to do MCAT prep, research hours, AND maintain a GPA? That's not juggling flaming torches—that's juggling flaming torches while walking a tightrope over a pit of alligators. Something's gotta give, or you're gonna crash.

I was you two years ago. I crashed. Hard. Ended up taking a medical leave of absence because my body literally shut down from stress. Lost a semester, lost money, lost my mind for a while.

So here's my hard-won advice:

Prioritize sleep. Non-negotiable. 7 hours minimum. If you're sleep-deprived, your retention drops, your mood tanks, and you're basically studying for nothing.

Cut something. Research hours can wait. MCAT prep can be compressed. You don't have to do it all RIGHT NOW. Med schools care about trajectory, not perfection. A B+ with sanity is better than an A- with burnout.

Use the counseling center. It's free, it's confidential, and they actually help. I waited way too long to go. Don't be me.

Also, the little garden behind the chapel is the quietest spot on campus. Go there, breathe, remember you're a human, not just a pre-med robot.
