I'm looking at Tougaloo College. It's tiny — like 700 students tiny. My high school had 2,000. I'm worried I'll feel trapped.
I visited last month. The campus is beautiful — old trees, historic buildings, quiet. But quiet isn't always good. Quiet can mean boring.
The student who gave me the tour said: "You won't get lost here. Everyone knows everyone. That's good and bad."
I get that. But what do you actually do on weekends? Are there parties? Is there dating? Or do you just... study and go to sleep?
I'm not looking for a party school. But I'm also not looking for a monastery.
Someone told me that Tougaloo students hang out at Jackson State (which is 15 minutes away) on weekends. Is that true? Can I have a small school experience with big school access?
