I've been reading student reviews of Jones College to figure out if it's the right start for my nursing journey. Here's what I'm piecing together.
The academics: The science professors are consistently praised. A student wrote: “I was nervous about anatomy, but my professor was amazing. She wanted us to succeed.” Another said: “The class sizes are small, so you actually get help when you need it.” This is exactly what I want before transferring to a big nursing program.
The advising: This is the critical piece. Some reviews say advisors are “helpful and knowledgeable about transfer requirements” . Others say: “You have to be your own advocate. Don't assume they'll tell you everything” . The consensus seems to be: if you come prepared with questions and a plan, they'll help. If you show up clueless, you might miss important deadlines.
The social life: Multiple reviews mention that the campus is “quiet on weekends” and that “most students commute from nearby towns” . One student said: “If you're not from the area, you have to make an effort. Join something. Anything. Or you'll be bored.”
My plan: I'm going to start at Jones, but I'm going in with my eyes open. I'll:

My plan: I'm going to start at Jones, but I'm going in with my eyes open. I'll:
- Meet with an advisor early and get my transfer plan in writing
- Join a club or activity to meet people
- Take my science prerequisites seriously
- Apply to nursing programs before I finish at Jones so there's no gap
