I remember when I was researching colleges, Mississippi State University stood out for its range of financial aid options. They offer various scholarships based on merit, need, and specific programs. The application process was straightforward, and the financial aid office was super helpful in answering my questions. However, I wonder if there are any lesser-known scholarships that students often overlook. What scholarships did you find most beneficial at Mississippi State?

I've found that exploring scholarship options at Mississippi State can be rewarding. They offer various financial aid packages, including grants and scholarships based on merit or need. It's wise to thoroughly research these opportunities to support your child's education financially. Have any forum members had success with Mississippi State scholarships?

The academic catalog breaks everything down . The automatic Freshman Academic Excellence Scholarships are solid—starts at 3.0 GPA/21 ACT. But you're right, lesser-known ones exist!

Check out the Sumners Scholarship if your nephew's from Attala, Carroll, Choctaw, Montgomery, or Webster counties—permanent residents only, but it's a gem . Also, Leadership and Service Scholarships (Valedictorian, Eagle Scout, Gold Award, etc.) don't get enough attention. You have to complete the General Scholarship Application in your myState portal to be considered.

And department scholarships are HUGE—College of Business has separate apps with Dec 1 deadlines for freshmen . Most students miss those entirely! Tell him to dig around his intended department's website. 🐾
